Minister
Gary N. Selby is a native of Texas, where he was both born and reborn in Christ. He has been married to his wife Mary since 1968. They have four wonderful children, and five equally wonderful grandchildren. For the first half of his working life, he was a Certified Public Accountant, primarily in the oil and gas business in Texas and Louisiana. During that time he served the Lord in various congregations as a teacher, a deacon, and an elder. Mary has served as a teacher in all age groups from cradle roll through Ladies Bible Class, and has spoken in various locations for Ladies’ Day events and workshops.
In 1994, they moved from New Orleans, Louisiana to Lubbock, Texas for Gary to attend the Sunset International Bible Institute. Since that time he has worked in full time ministry with congregations in the states of Washington, Texas and Louisiana. While living in North Texas, he completed a Masters of Arts in Ministry at Oklahoma Christian University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Gary and Mary moved to Raleigh to serve the Raleigh Church of Christ in the summer of 2007.
Gary has this to say about the Bible:
Of all the passages of scripture, I believe the one that has the greatest impact on my life is Philippians 2:5-11. It tells the back story of Jesus in heaven, forsaking the very form of God to become a man, a servant and to die a criminal on a cross. He did that for my sins, for our sins. I cannot really fathom such love. This was the love God exalted above all else. There is no greater encouragement to living faith and loving humility.
